The Papua New Guinea national cricket team is the cricket team that represents f Papua New Guinea in international cricket. Cricket PNG organized this team which has been a co-Member of the International Cricket Council since 1973. Earlier Papua New Guinea had ODI status, which is got by ending fourth in the 2014 World Cup Qualifier. Papua New Guinea is the powerful team in the ICC East Asia-Pacific region. This team holds the world record for the highest runs in a one-day match, in 2007 they scored 572/7 against the New Caledonia cricket team. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council decided to allow for Twenty20 International status to all ICC Members. In the 1890s missionaries introduced cricket to the Territory of Papua. The current Captain and Coach of the team is Assad Vala and Carl Stephen Sandri.
